Y Combinator-backed startup’s leadership joined Whatfix to accelerate the next generation of Digital Adoption Platforms (DAP).
November 25, 2025: Whatfix, the global AI-native platform for enterprise automation, today announced that it has welcomed the Layup team to help accelerate the next generation of DAPs. Badal Jain, Co-founder and CTO of Layup, will join the company to lead engineering for Whatfix Seek platform within Whatfix Labs, an upcoming suite of AI assistants. His role will strengthen Whatfix Labs’ focus on Seek and accelerate innovation in adaptive guidance. Co-founders Ryan Xue (CEO) and Michael Lemm (COO) will join Whatfix in an advisory capacity on DAP strategy, ensuring continuity of Layup’s vision.
Backed by Y Combinator, Soma Capital, and Leonis Capital, Layup pioneered AI-first in-app guidance with its signature “second cursor”, a seamless agent that appears instantly when users need help and has helped over 3 million users across B2B and B2C platforms onboard and adopt features faster.
“The addition of Layup’s leadership strengthens our AI-native strategy and reaffirms our commitment to making software adapt to its users,” said Vara Kumar, Co-founder and Head of R&D at Whatfix. “With AI Agents, we introduced a future where DAPs act on users’ behalf to empower their digital journeys. ”
This announcement builds on Whatfix’s expanding portfolio of AI-native products designed to accelerate enterprise productivity. Seek, currently under development within Whatfix Labs, represents the next generation of AI assistants that will act across applications to help users get work done. The first of these capabilities, Seek for Salesforce, has already demonstrated this vision—becoming the first AI Agent to complete Salesforce Trailhead Admin Challenges and showcasing the future of enterprise automation and Whatfix’s leadership in building AI-first products.
Ryan Xue, Co-founder and CEO of Layup, said “At Layup, we always believed guidance should predict user needs, remove obstacles, and help people succeed at every stage of their journey. We are excited to see this vision continue with Whatfix, a company that has been shaping the digital adoption category. We can accelerate the future of AI-native user assistance for enterprises worldwide.”
Future of DAP
At the heart of Whatfix’s AI vision is ScreenSense, the company’s proprietary technology that continuously interprets a user’s context within an application and their real-time intent to power intelligent actions. This foundation is shaping the next generation of digital adoption—moving beyond static support to predictive, personalized, and autonomous assistance that helps every user succeed at scale. The recent Seek for Salesforce milestone showcased how Whatfix’s AI-first products are evolving to handle real-world enterprise tasks, while advancing the company’s mission to make complex software effortless for everyone.
